Horti Terra Farms

Farmers Cooperation

Drought and unpredictable weather can damage crops and decrease yield. The position of farmers should be strengthened and they should be given a chance to weapon themselves. The mission of stage three is to raise the impact of the project by starting a farmers-cooperation and strengthen the vegetable cultivation value chain. The cooperation should check and ensure the quality of the vegetables produced by affiliated farmers. HortiTerra will manage the marketing and distribution of the vegetables and farmers will have a higher, more stable income. The cooperation will also stimulate the use of greenhouses. To support aspiring greenhouse farmers the cooperation will link them to financial institutions and provide them with the needed horticultural knowledge. Improved infrastructure and a strong brand name should benefit the farmers. Core values important for this stage are support and supervision for farmers. HortiTerra is supposed to be a social enterprise, which helps the development of the local community. The last stage should start in 2018 and expand in the next years.
